Smart Classrooms

Smart classrooms have been installed in several buildings on campus. These classrooms are built in two distinct tiers, as podium installations and as retro-fit equipped rooms. All smart classrooms consist of a small simple to use pushbutton interface that turns on the ceiling mounted data/video projector and controls it's inputs: VCR, DVD, PC, Document Camera. Smart classrooms place at your fingertips the kind of equipment you might be contacting IRC for delivery, yet in the case of podium rooms, all the equipment is permanently mounted. In the retro-fit rooms, the projector, controller and Dell PC are permanent. Equipment such as a DVD or VHS player can be delivered by IRC. This equipment can be hooked into the system in a matter of seconds.

New Smart Classroom Podium Smart classrooms have been installed in two rounds. The first group were installed in the Spring of 2002.

McDermott 202, 203, 204, 205, Dinneen 326, Gannon 1 and Pope 110 are all podium rooms.

Pope 207, 211, 212, 301, 306, 308 are the retrofit rooms.

The second wave of classrooms was installed in the summer/fall of 2002.
McDermott 207, 304, 306, 307, 308, 310, and Dinneen 331 are all podium rooms.

Pope Lecture Hall underwent a major reconstruction effort over the summer of 2002. Totally rebuilt the lecture hall now holds 141 seats, wheelchair accessibility and spaces for 4 chairs, a smart podium with touch panel control and a projection room with duplicated equipment. The room is equipped with surround sound and wireless mics.
