Sports Medicine

The Sports Medicine staff at Saint Peter’s College works to provide competent, compassionate, and medically-sound healthcare to the student-athlete body. Based at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in Manhattan, team physicians Dr. Joseph Feinberg and Dr. Thomas Wickiewicz accomodate rehabilitative and surgical consultation to student-athletes as well as oversee the Athletic Training staff at the college. Three full-time athletic trainers provide healthcare services and maintain student-athlete welfare to all 300 student-athletes by way of emergency response, injury evaluation and management, and treatment and rehabilitation. Injury prevention, strength & conditioning, and home-care instruction are also afforded to all varsity athletes. The Director of Sports Medicine at Saint Peter’s College ensures consistency in care across all 19 sports, manages healthcare services including pharmaceutical and health insurance needs, and acts as liason between the Sports Medicine team and the Athletics community.


The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is ranked #1 for Orthopedics and ranked #2 for Rheumatology by U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals”, 2011-2012. Emergency medical care is provided by Jersey City Medical Center, less than two miles away in downtown Jersey City. JCMC is a member of the Liberty Health System and also awarded 2010 #1 Overall NJ Hospital by the Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.’s Survey of NJ Doctors.
