Juan gaviria top nominee for Hermann Trophy
Senior Juan Gaviria (Elizabeth, NJ/Saint Benedict's Prep) is one of the nominees for the 2007 Hermann Trophy Award handed out by the Missouri Athletic Club. Gaviria was one of 29 players selected by NSCAA coaches across the country. The Hermann Trophy honors the top male and female Division I soccer players in the United States. The award is college soccer's version of the Heisman Trophy and represents the highest level of achievement. Some past trophy winners include soccer greats Mia Hamm, Alexi Lalas, Kristine Lilly and Tony Meola.

Juan Gaviria Named Preseason Player of the Year
Edison, NJ (August 1, 2007) - The MAAC released their results of their preseason poll on Wednesday afternoon. The Peacocks were picked to place third behind Fairfield and Loyola. Saint Peter's finished third last year making it to the MAAC Championship game where they lost to Fairfield 1-0. Reigning MAAC Offensive Player of the Year Juan Gaviria is predicted to repeat that feat again this year being named the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year. He led Saint Peter's with 15 goals and three assists for 33 points. Joining Gaviria on the MAAC Preseason Team are fellow Peacocks Assaf Sheleg, Chris DeAbreu and Murphy Wiredu. Wiredu finished second in points for the Peacocks with 21 including nine goals and three assists.
Three Peacocks Merit ALL Region Honors
Jersey City, NJ (Novemer 30, 2006) - The NCAA released their Men's Soccer All-North Atlantic Region Team this afternoon with three Saint Peter's playerson their list. Junior Juan Gaviria was selected to the First Team All-Region for his remarkable MAAC Offensive Player of the Year season finishing with 33 points and 15 goals. Peacocks senior Damion Gaynor and sophomore Chris DeAbreu were named to the Third Team All-Region squad. Gaynor played a marvelous defensive season for Saint Peter's making some big plays in key situations. DeAbreu was selected for his brilliant midfield play on both offense and defense. DeAbreu finished with one goals and two assists. DeAbreu and Gaviria return next season with high aspirations of returning to the MAAC Championships.
Peacocks Lose a 1-0 Heartbreaker to Stags in MAAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Fairfield, CT - The Saint Peter's College Men's Soccer team (10-8-2) faced the Fairfield University Stags (14-5-1) on Sunday morning in the MAAC Championship game. Saint Peter's seemed to be in control for the majority of the game but Fairfield found a loop hole in the Peacocks defense and scored in the second half giving the Stags the 1-0 win and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Niagara Falls to Saint Peter's: Peacocks Reach MAAC Championship
Fairfield, CT - The Saint Peter's College Men's Soccer team (10-7-2) traveled to the campus of Fairfield to play the Niagara University Purple Eagles (7-7-4) in the first game of the MAAC Semifinals. The Peacocks shutout the Eagles 3-0 to move on to face the winner of the Fairfield/Loyola game being played later tonight. The Peacocks improve their record to 2-1 in MAAC Semifinal play. This is Saint Peter's 9th season winning 10 or more game in a season. The last time the Peacocks won more than 10 games was back in 2003 where they won 18 and the MAAC Championships. Fairfield, CT - Saint Peter’s junior forward Juan Garviria (Elizabeth,NJ/Saint Benedict’s Prep) has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year for his success in the 2006 season. Gaviria lead the MAAC in goals (14), points (31) and game winning goals (6). This will be his second selection to the All-MAAC 1st Team after being selected to the All-Rookie Team in 2004. FULL STORY
Connecticut Bound: Hudson Sends Peacocks into Playoffs
Baltimore, MD - The Saint Peter's Men's Soccer team (9-7-2, 6-3-0 MAAC) traveled to Baltimore to take on the Loyola Greyhounds (7-10-1, 6-3-0 MAAC) hoping to earn a spot in the MAAC Championship Playoffs this weekend. The Peacocks shut out the Greyhounds 1-0 and won the right to face Niagara on Thursday in Fairfield, CT for the first game of the MAAC Semifinals. FULL STORY
