Peacocks has Best showing at MAACs Placing fourth

Lawrenceville, NJ (May 5-6, 2007) - The Saint Peter's College track and field team finished in fourth place with their highest point total at the MAAC Track & Field Championships with 59 points surpassing Marist. Louis Antenor medalled three times for Saint Peter's. Antenor placed third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.01, third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.19,. He was part of the 4x400 Relay team that included Mark Anderson, Steven MacMurray and Roman Zhmurenka took first placed with a time of 3:20.23. The 4x400 team has now won four consecutive races for the Peacocks. The 4x100 team consiting of Kollan Reevey, Jonathan Radditch, Daniel You and MacMurray placed second with a time of 43.55. Zhmurenka finished second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.04. 

Peacocks Take Home six Top 5 Finishes At Rider Invitational

Lawrenceville, NJ (April 14, 2007) - The Saint Peter's College Men's track team placed in the top five in 6 out of the 13 events. The Peacocks finished with five fourth place finishes and one in fifth place. Matthew Van Deursen placed fourth place in the 3000 Steeplechase with a time of 11:41.32. The 4 x 400 Relay team consisting of Mark Anderson, Steve McMurray, Louis antenor and Roman Zhmurenka completed their competition in 3:34.36 for a fourth place finish. In the Long Jump, Kauen Reevey placed fourth jumping 6.42m. Sydney Murray placed fourth in the Shot put and Discus throwing 14.17m and 43.22m. The 4 x 100 Relay team of Antenor, McMurray, Zhmurenka and Salic Wigfall finished fifth with a time of 43.63.

Saint Peter's will return to action on Saturday, April 28th when they will partakein the Bergen CC invitational.  

Three 1st Place Finishes for the Peacocks in the NJIT/Bergen CC Invitational

Paramus, NJ (April 7, 2007) - The Saint Peter's Men's Track team had thier best outting of the year with three number one finishes. Sydney Murray pulled in one of the first place finishes in the shot put throwing for 13.83m. Both the 4 x 100 and the 4 x 400 teams captured the other two top finishes. The 4 x 100 Relay team consisting of Louis Antenor, Steve McMurray, Roman Zhmurenka and Salic Wigfall recorded the top time of 44.08. The 4 x 400 Relay team of Antenor, Mark Anderson, McMurray and Zhmurenka completed their race in 3:32.91. Wigfall also placed second in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.27 and placed third in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 23.49. Zhmurenka followed Wigfall placing fourth in the 200 with a time of 23.56. Antenor also placed fifth in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 52.70.

Saint Peter's returns to action this Saturday, April 14th as they participate in the Rider Invitational in Lawernceville, NJ.

Eight top 10 finishes for Peacocks in Wagner College Invitational

Staten Island, NY (March 31, 2007) - The Saint Peter's Men's track team were among a number of teams participating in the Wagner College Invitational. The day's top performer was Sydney Murray who placed second in the Shot Put throwing 14.30m and third in the Discus with a distance of 36.79m. The 4x400 Relay team that consisted of Louis Antenor, Mark Anderson, Steve McMurray and Roman Zhmurenka placed third with a collective time of 3:29.49. Matt Van Duersen finished fifth in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a time of 11:21.09. Antenor placed seventh in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 23.30. The Peacocks had two eighth place finishes, one by Kollan Reevey in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.13m and the other by the 4x100 Relay team of Antenor, McMurray, Zhmurenka and Salic Wigfall with a time of 45.25. Wigfall rounded out the top 10 finishes earning 10th place in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.26.

Saint Peter's next action will take place on Saturday April 7th as they compete in the NJIT/Bergen CC Invitational held in Paramus, NJ. 

Peacocks Open season with 12th Annual Monmouth open

West Long Branch, NJ (March 23-24, 2007) - Saint Peter's College opened their track and field season at the 12th Annual Monmouth University Opener. The Peacocks had five particpants finished in the top 10 out of a slue of teams. The top finish was posted by the Men's 1600 Sprint Medley team that consisted of Louis Antenor, Roman Zhumenka, Steve McMurray and Salic Wigfall with a time of 3:39.68. In the Men's Discus, Sydney Murray earned fifth place with a toss of 44.80. Zhurmenka finished eighth in the Men's 400 meter Dash for the Peacocks with a time of 50.51. In ninth place for Saint Peter's were Kollan Reevey in the long jump leaping 6.28 and Murry in the Shot Put throwing 14.09.

Peacocks place 5th in mAACs despite strong showing

New York, NY (February 16, 2007) - The Saint Peter's track team finished last despite earning a couple of top finishes. Salic Wigfall came in second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.50 and placed fourthin the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.60. Teammate Louis Antenor finished ahead of Wigfall in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.57 for third place and behind him in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.62 which was good enough for another third place finish. Antenor also placed second as a part of the 4 x 400 relay team that consisted of Mark Anderson, Steve MacMurray and Roman Zhmurenka. They finished with a time of 3:22.16. Sydney Murray brought home a third place finish in shot put throwing 14.83m for the Peacocks.

THree peacocks Named to MAAC All-Academic Team

Edison, NJ - The MAAC published their All-Academic team earlier this week with three Peacocks meriting the honors. Sophomore Johnathan Raditch, senior Sydney Murray and graduate student Roman Zhmurenka represent Saint Peter's with their hard work and dedication to academics.

Lafayette-Rider Invitational

(February 9, 2007) - Saint Peter's College track and field team participated in athe Lafayette Invitational on Friday with Division I teams from all over New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Sydney Murray was the top finisher for the Peacocks placing second in the shot put throwing for 16.02m. Roman Zhmurenka brought the Peacocks a fifth place finish in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:05.44. Kauen Reevey set a mark good enough for sixth in the long jump with 6.67m. The Saint Peter's 4x400 relay came in seventh showcasing Louis Antenor, Mark Anderson, Steve MacMurray and Zhmurenka. Salic Wigfall placed eight in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.155.

Peacocks Compete in MAAC
Track and Field Championships

The Saint Peter's College Peacocks competed in the 2006 MAAC Championships this weekend at Rider University.

On day one, Sean Mayers finished in a fourth place tie in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.92m in the finals. In the Javelin competition, Michael Chatman recorded 48.36 meters in his final throw for a fourth place finish. Sydney Murray finished 10th in event with a distance of 35.56m.

Day two was a much busier day for the Peacocks. In the men's shot put, Murray finished seventh with a throw of 14.30m, while Gino Martorana finished ninth with a throw of 11.36m.

Murray then placed second in the discus throw with a toss of 46.42m to end the field events competition.

On the track, Saint Peter's finished third in 4x100 relay as the team of Salic Wigfall, Moses Green, Cornelius Heck and Mayers ran a time of 43.31.

In the 400 meter dash, Roman Zhmurenka placed fifth with a time of 50.49, while Green was ninth at 53.95 and Jean-Pierre Anacreon finished 10th with a time of 54.20.

Mayers then finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 11.03. Wigfall ran 11.22 for seventh and Heck finished 14th with a time of 11.86.

Mark Anderson then ran in the 800 meter and finished 17th with a time of 2:01.91. He was followed by Jaleel Kindell who finished 18th at 2:03.78 and Jonathon Raditch who finished 20th at 2:17.28.

In the 200m competition, Mayers finished fourth with a time of 21.98. Wigfall ran a time of 22.66 for a ninth place finish.

Andrey Ulyanenko ran a time of 17:05.03 in the 5,000 meter run. Michael Bress (17:27.02) finished 16th, Brian Bernadino (17:34.57) finished 17th and Matt Van Deursen (18:17.24) finished 18th.

The 4x400 relay was the final event for the Peacocks as they finished in second, less than three seconds behind Rider who set a meet record. Mayers, Anderson, Wigfall and Zhmurenka ran the race in 3:19.81. FULL RESULTS
