Saint Peter’s College is seeking an Associate Vice President for Student Life and Development. The associate vice president of student life and development serves as the chief student affairs officer and leads initiatives to create a dynamic campus life. He/she has oversight of programs, facilities, budget and personnel for student affairs and its member departments. The individual works collaboratively with academic affairs to support the growth of the “whole person” and develops and implements policies that pertain to student affairs. The successful candidate needs to be committed to a strong partnership with academic affairs, expansion of living and learning communities and theme housing. Areas in student affairs include: Dean of Students, Athletics, Student Activities, Recreational Life Center, Residence Life, Center for Personal Development, Health Services and Food Service. Saint Peter’s College is an NCAA Division I institution. The position reports directly to the Provost.
Qualifications: Master’s degree required (doctorate preferred), commitment to Mission of College; strong interpersonal and communication skills; minimum or 5 years of student affairs administrative experience in an institution of higher education. St. Peter’s College is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Director of Athletics to lead our NCAA Division I athletics program which includes 19 men’s and women’s sports programs that compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletics Conference (MAAC) and the Northeast Conference for women’s bowling. This individual supervises all central administration staff and coaches; and is
responsible for the oversight of the athletic department budgets with the ability to work creatively with limited resources. The Athletics Director assures that all programs, coaches, staff, and student athletes are in compliance with the policies, procedures, and regulations of St. Peter’s College, the NCAA, the MAAC, and the Northeast Conference. The qualified director is directly and actively involved with all fundraising efforts for the athletics program; and works in collaboration with other administrators in terms of strategic planning for facilities and budget development. We are seeking a director who will continue to insure that athletics is integrated with the entire College community in order to provide a positive, educational, and formative experience for our culturally and socioeconomic diverse student athletes. The student centered director must be committed to the Jesuit and Catholic mission of St. Peter’s College, educational excellence, and integrity. This position reports directly to the Associate Vice-President for Student Life who is the chief student affairs officer of the College. Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree required. At least five years of experience in Athletics and Athletics Administration with experience in supervising and mentoring coaches and staff. The Director of the Graduate Business Programs provides overall leadership and vision for: program development, managing distance learning initiatives, hiring and evaluating faculty, course scheduling, achieving and maintaining specialty accreditation, long-range planning, business partnership development, and student recruiting and retention. A DBA or Ph.D. is required as is teaching experience. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in business, proven leadership ability, and demonstrated scholarly productivity. This is a twelve-month, full-time administrative position with teaching responsibilities.

The Director of Residence Life is responsible for the leadership of the entire residence life system, which houses approximately 800 undergraduate students. This individual supervises and trains all professional staff, clerical staff, and paraprofessional staff of the department. The Director has responsibility for managing and tracking pertinent budgets as well as predicting and tracking future revenue and expenses for the department, as well as planning and strategizing facility needs and renovations. S/he will also serve the college community through committee work and open communication with other departments.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Oversees the comprehensive program of Residence Life and Housing which includes: staffing, training, supervision of professional and paraprofessional staff, budgeting, operations, support services, residence life protocol, and renovation planning and projects. Insures that support services are in place for resident students by coordinating with all Student Life departments as well as Campus Services, Campus Safety, and Enrollment Services.
2. Directly supervises the Assistant Director of Residence Life for Operations, Community Directors, and department secretary. Meets with the professional staff on a regular basis, holds weekly department meetings, evaluates performance, and provides guidance and direction for all departmental staff members.
3. Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising Community Directors. Works closely with Community Directors to select and train resident assistants. Scope includes all aspects of year round staff training, including emergency response, conflict resolution, residence hall community development, programming, and the like.
4. Directly supervises the Assistant Director of Residence Life who is responsible for all aspects of housing operations and summer conferencing. Works closely with the Assistant Director, Associate Vice-President for Student Life & Development, and Finance Department in the solicitation and management of reveunue generating summer conference programs.
5. Responsible for managing and tracking pertinent budgets for the Residence Life Department.
6. On-going review and revision of department publications including Residence Life guidebook, Community Director Manual, Resident Assistant Manual, and all informational literature and housing applications.
7. Responsible for providing leadership and developing an effective residence life program that places priority on care and concern of all resident students and creating an atmosphere of community and belonging in the residence halls.
8. Oversees and coordinates on-call system for the Residence Life department which involves reviewing and revising on-call procedures and scheduling. Responsible for being the chief on-call professional for all emergencies and crisis involving resident students 24 hours a day seven days a week.
9. Performs other duties as assigned especially as they support the Jesuit and Catholic mission of St. Peter’s College.

Understanding of the structure of a higher education institution, its constituents, the needs of a campus community, and the proper flow of communication with the College structure.
Three to five years experience working in Residence Life, Student Life, or a related area and in a supervisory role. Education: Bachelors and Masters degree required.
