Jersey City –The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Cabaret, which played to packed houses in New York City forty years ago, opens at Saint Peter’s College on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. The College’s student drama society, Argus Eyes, will perform the groundbreaking musical in the Roy Irving Theatre April 10 through 12, and 17 through 19. Directed by Leah Bonvissuto, the play is set in 1930 Berlin on the eve of the Nazis' rise to power.

The musical focuses on nightlife at the decadent Kit Kat Club, following London showgirl Sally Bowles (played by Sarah Anfora), onstage and off, as she pursues relationships with young American writer Cliff Bradshaw (Brandon Hightower) and Jewish fruit vendor Herr Shultz (Matthew Vieira). Overseeing the action is the Emcee (Dominic Furina), who presides as the master of ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub and serves as a constant metaphor for the current state of society in Germany.

Also contributing their talent on Saint Peter’s stage are Kaitlyn Flannery, Veronica Graveline, Christopher Fanguy, Jonathan Brantley, Thomas MacNamara, Jacob R. Hines, Thomas Condon, Christopher Kenner, Daniel Shea, Kate Hopkins, Lauren Buzzelli, Faye Rosario, Amanda Staub and Jolevette Mitchell. Kevin Cummine is the music director.

Tickets for this production cost $10.00, or $5.00 with a Saint Peter’s ID. Tickets are available for pre-sale through the Office of Student Activities beginning April 1, and will also be available for purchase at the door.
