The Dean of Students serves as an advocate for the student body. Students can speak to the Dean about any issue that affects the quality of student life at the College or any matter that is of general concern to the College community. Students are encouraged to stop by and speak to the Dean personally. If necessary, individual or group appointments can be made through the office secretary. The Dean supervises the following departments:
The Dean heads the Student Crisis Response Intervention and Postvention Team (SCRIPT), which handles student health and psychological emergencies, and also edits and publishes the Student Handbook, The NET. As the College’s Chief Judicial Officer, the Dean of Students is responsible for the College Community Standards, as found in The NET. These standards include the Principles of Student Conduct, Student Code of Conduct, Judicial Process, and College Policies, Procedures and Guidelines that pertain to student behavior. Formal Judicial Complaints against students engaged in inappropriate behavior, which includes the disruption of classes, may be filed through the Dean’s office. These complaints lead to judicial hearings, which are conducted by the Dean or his designees.
