 Dr. John J. Hampton

Jack Hampton is a Professor of Business at St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ. He was Executive Director of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) from 2000 to 2004. Previously, he was dean of the schools of business at Seton Hall and Connecticut State universities and provost of the College of Insurance in New York City.

Professional Interests

Jack specializes in Enterprise Risk Management. He was named a Risk Innovator of 2008 by Risk and Insurance magazine. He has spoken at many professional meetings, including the Bank Agency Network (BANK) (2008), Agency Peak Performance Exchange (APPEX) (2008), Physicians Insurers Association of America (PIAA) (2007), Crittenden Medical Insurance Annual Conference (2007), Federation of Pacific, Asian, and African Risk Managers (FAPARMO) (2006), and Hartford Financial Risk Managers Annual Meeting (2006).

Publications

His book Fundamentals of Enterprise Risk Management was published in August  2009 (American Management Association). He is the author of numerous books including the AMA Management Handbook (General Editor, AMACOM Books), Financial Management of Insurance Companies (AMACOM Books), Financial Decision Making (Prentice-Hall. four editions), Working Capital Management (John Wiley and Sons), and Modern Financial Theory: Perfect and Imperfect Markets (Prentice-Hall). His journal articles include "The Valuation of Common Stock in a Bifurcated Regulatory Structure”, Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives, and "International Marketing in China”, Journal of Marketing Management.

Consulting

He has been a principal in the Princeton Consulting Group since 1981 and has worked on strategic planning, risk management, and due diligence projects for diverse clients including AT&T, The World Bank, Pacific Fruit, and United Technologies. He has extensive experience in China, Russia, and Japan.

Dr. Thomas W. Matteo

Dr. Thomas Matteo joined the faculty of St. Peter’s College in the fall of 2006 after thirty years in numerous management positions, most notably President and Chief Executive Officer of New York City’s Off Track Betting Corporation. He brings real world experience and his wealth of successfully business leadership and management skills to his classes by the demonstrating practical applications of business theories.

 

Dr. Matteo is an author of numerous articles on management and has also taught at St. Francis College, Wagner College, St. John's University and New York University for more than twenty-five years. In addition, he also worked as a Research Scientist with the Center for Management at New York University's Robert Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. In 1986, Dr. Matteo was recognized as Professor of the Year by St. Francis College.

 

Dr. Matteo is the founder and principal in Matthews Associates, a management consulting firm. Among his clients have been RJR Nabisco, the Downtown Athletic Club and the New York City Board of Education.

 

Dr. Matteo is also a local historian. He has written three books on Staten Island history and serves as Staten Island’s 4th Borough Historian. Dr. Matteo has appeared in programs on both PBS (Channel 13) and WNYCTV (Channel 25).

 

Dr. Matteo is the founder and current member of the Board of Directors for the Sea View Historic Foundation. He is a member of Sterling’s Who’s Who Executive Club and has received numerous leadership awards throughout his career. In 2003 he was named Businessman of the Year.

 

Dr. Matteo received his bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University; his first master’s degree from City University of New York and both his second master’s and doctorate degrees from St. John’s University.

Bob Donnelly has been teaching in graduate business programs for over 20 years. He has developed and delivered executive briefings and seminars both domestically and internationally for BUSINESS WEEK magazine and others and was featured in USA TODAY for his work with the Inc. magazine 500.
Business Management
Bob has been the CEO of several technology based businesses successful grew one firm into the market leader in process control automation. Emerson Electric subsequently acquired the firm. Earlier in his career, Bob held senior management positions with IBM, Pfizer, and Exxon.
Professional Interests
Bob specializes in Entrepreneurship and is an entrepreneur himself. He has worked with the founders of over 500 rapidly growing firms both domestically and internationally to develop business plans and marketing strategies. He developed a Plan-for-Planning Process, a template for increasing profitability for any size company.
