Saint Peter’s College launched the first book depicting its 137-year history titled, Saint Peter’s College, with a book signing and cocktail hour on Wednesday, February 24 at 5:00 p.m. in the O’Toole Library. Written collaboratively by faculty members Joseph McLaughlin, Ph.D., and Thomas Matteo, Ph.D., the book offers a photographic documentary of important moments in Saint Peter’s history.
James Adler, Adjunct Professor of Fine Arts
James Adler has composed Reverie, Interrupted for tenor saxophone and piano for Jordan P. Smith. Mr. Smith premiered the work at the Manhattan School of Music, with Mr. Adler at the piano, on February 25, 2010. The recital is now available on YouTube. He will also be the featured soloist in an encore performance of the Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps Symphonic Band's spring concert, "Symphonic Power: A Dynamic Evening of Music." The concert is on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Ann's and the Holy Trinity Church, 157 Montague Street, Brooklyn, N.Y. Donations will be accepted for the church restoration fund. Sondra Buesing Riley, Director of the Cooperative Education and Internship Program
Ms. Buesing Riley sings with the gospel choir Jubilation. Their recording, Oh Happy Day, earned three 2010 Grammy Award nominations, and won in the category of best traditional gospel music.
Dr. William Luhr, Professor of English
Dr. Luhr delivered a paper titled "Time, Place, and Genre in The Big Lebowski" at the Annual Conference of the Society for Cinema Studies in Los Angeles, California, on March 17, 2010.
