Relief for haiti
The Saint Peter's College community with our president, Dr. Eugene Cornacchia, extend our thoughts and prayers to all those affected by the tragedy in Haiti.
During a January 20, 2010 meeting, over 100 members of the Saint Peter's College community outlined various ways to respond to the tragedy in Haiti. The SPC community resolved to serve those in Haiti through fundraising for organizations working there and continued service to those in need in our own communities.
Consequently, the following actions have been taken by the SPC:
The Office of Campus Ministry is accepting monetary donations to be given to Catholic Relief Services and the Jesuit Refugee Service. If you are interested in donating, please make all checks payable to either Catholic Relief Services or Jesuit Refugee Service. Any donations may be brought to the Office of Campus Ministry in Dinneen Hall 134-136.
Events held on campus:
The Saint Peter's College community came together for a mass of remembrance in Saint Peter's Chapel.
Interfaith Day of Service and reflection. Believers, seekers, and friends painted, cleaned and stocked the food pantry at Saint Lucy’s Shelter. Responding to the tragedy in Haiti, our theme for the day was care, respect, and acceptance of the stranger. Facilitated reflection from the various faith perspectives focused on themes related to our work and context. Event was sponsored by Campus Ministry, Community Service, and Multicultural Affairs.
Any students struggling and in need of counseling or someone to talk to about the tragedy in Haiti should contact the Center for Personal Development at X6420.
