Citation Formatting Tools

RefWorks is an online research management, writing and collaboration tool that is designed to help you easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information as well as generate citations and bibliographies. First, each user needs to create a username and password. An optional plugin can also be downloaded to Microsoft Word. Use this tutorial to help you get started.

All current students, staff and faculty need to register for individual access to RefWorks on-campus. For remote access, click "Continue to this website (not recommend)" to process when you have a browser warning page.

Zotero
Zotero is a free Firefox extension to help you collect, manage, and cite your research sources.  Zotero requires Firefox version 3.0 and also includes an optional plug-in that works with Microsoft Word or Open Office to generate citations and bibliographies.  View the Zotero quick start guide for more information.

You'll see the words Cite this above the title of your document.  When you click Cite this, it will open a window with a formatted citation you can include in a bibliography. Use the dropdown menu to select the desired citation format (APA, MLA, etc.).   Copy and paste the citation into your document.

from an EBSCO database (Academic Search Premier, Business Search Premier, CINAHL, etc.)
Look for an icon that looks like a yellow sheet of paper above the title of your document.
