About Us
J.A.M.z was created for those with an interest in Japanese culture. It is a great place to meet new people, make new friends, and share unforgettable memories. As a club, our goal is to get members to become more involved in the SPC community. We also want to encourage others to learn about Japanese customs, so new members are always welcome in our club!
Please check our ANNOUNCEMENTS for updates and changes of our events.
Anime refers to the animation style of Japan. It has a distinctive art style, which include exaggerated expressions, features, and movements. The storylines vary in genre and are aimed at different kinds of audiences, which range from children to adults.
Manga is the Japanese term for “comic”. Unlike Marvel Comics, they are printed in black and white and are read from right to left. The two types of manga styles are shonen and shoujo, which also have a wide variety of unique artist that draw in inimitable styles.
Both anime and manga are used as mediums to reflect the trends and concerns of Japanese society.
We also have our very own mascot, which we created to represent us!
Her name is Miki (Japanese for "beautiful maiden") and her species is neko (Japanese for "cat"). She is spunky, artistic, super hyper, playful, and is up to doing anything! Her character design was made by Amanda Jaikissoon.
