Practical application of Research in Science Education (PARSE) Institute
To parse is to examine in a minute way and analyze critically, a skill which is critical to scientific research and study. It is a skill that must be fostered in primary and secondary science education in order to reinvigorate invention and scientific discovery that once was a world-renowned attribute of the State of New Jersey and our Nation. By providing an innovative, collaborative, inter-disciplinary approach to professional development, the PARSE Institute seeks to provide a new model for science education. One intended long-term outcome of this project is to eventually create a larger, more highly-skilled and highly-educated scientifc and technological workforce than exists today. By reaching the teachers that serve this future pool, the PARSE Institute seeks to develop the next generation of scientists and technologists.
Hands On, Feet Up: Experiential Learning in Microgravity
In the summer of 2010, eight members of the Saint Peter's College PARSE Institute were given the opportunity to conduct an experiment aboard the Weightless Wonder, a plane that simulates zero-gravity.
