Prospective and New SPC Students
Searching for the right college to go to can be a complex process. There is so much to think about. Classes, faculty to student ratios, library holdings, location of the campus, size of the school, distance from home, and finally, the residence halls!
Thinking about coming to Saint Peter's College? Looking for information about our residence halls, and why living on campus is such a valued part of the college experience. Then look no further, you've come to the right place.
Living on campus at Saint Peter's College provides new students with many opportunities to learn and grow from others, and reap the benefits of on campus living. What are some of those benefits? I'm so glad you asked!
Location: Let's get the obvious benefit out of the way first. Residence halls at Saint Peter's College are no further than a few minutes walk from your classes. You have an 8am class on Mondays? You can get up at a reasonable time, and still get to your class on time, to show the professor that you are a student who takes your academics seriously. Also, you get the benefit of being a PATH train ride away from New York City, one of the great cities of the planet. Take advantage of museums, cultural events, shopping, and everything that the city has to offer.
Community: Living on campus, you will become a part of the Saint Peter's College residential community. You will have roommates and floormates who will become lifelong friends. Students living on campus get to work with classmates on projects together in the evenings, and use the Library easily, which is just a short walk away from the furthest residence hall. You'll have support in the residence halls, in the form of Resident Assistants, who are there to help students adjust and grow in the residential environment, and provide programs and events that will expand your mind while entertaining you.
Personal Growth: As a resident student, you will be living in an environment with students who are both the same, and different from you. You will learn from others who you meet about their lives, their experiences, and what you have in common. You will learn that not everyone thinks the same way that you do, and you will learn what is important to you because of that. You will learn how to resolve differences with a roommate, which will serve you well in the future when you have to do the same in work environments or other settings. You will learn about yourself, and who you are, who you want to be, and how you can get there.
Sounds like a lot, doesn't it? Living on campus has been shown to help students adjust to college, and do better academically, while also helping them learn about themselves. It is an experience like none other you will have in your life.
