Hobbies: I love to read, write poetry, watch TV, photography and do graphic design
Club affiliations: Black Action Committee (BAC) and Psychology Club
Favorite campus activity:
The All-Nighter is a fun way to let loose and have a good time. Also, Class Wars are a blast!! Go Class of 2011!! The Turkey Bowl (Millennium Hall Girls vs. Whelan Hall Girls in a flag football match)
Favorite Professor:
Dr. David Surrey ( I had him for two classes and he’s such a great guy!), Dean Mihlon (She made me like Psychology even more! Awesome Freshman Seminar), and Dr. Leonor Lega (As my advisor and teacher she’s just amazing! Easy to understand as well as an understanding person.)
Why are you proud to be a GEM?
I have a strong passion for helping people in whatever way that I can and being a GEM is one way of me doing that.
Favorite Quote:
"If your success is not on your own terms, if it looks good to the world but does not feel good in your heart, it is not success at all." -- Anna Quindlen
Best advice you could give to the freshman class?
First and foremost GO to class!! Everything you need to know happens in the classroom! Also, go out and have some fun once in a while. College is a learning experience in many ways and if you stay in your dorm or at home you’ll never really get to gain the full college experience. Last but not least if you live on campus on to RAs (resident assistants) programs it’s a great way to make new friends!

Major: International Business
Class of 2011
Hobbies: Hanging out with friends, reading books, traveling, listening to music, learning foreign languages, going to NYC with friends and walking around.
Favorite Campus Activity:
Going to all the events in the quad, movie nights and plays, hanging out with friends in Jazzman's.
Favorite Professor:
Dr. Surrey, Dr. Smith, Prof. Trivedi, and Prof. Nunez. Actually, all professors here are very nice. They really care about their students and they are willing to help!
Why I'm proud to be a Gem:
I am proud to be a GEM because I can share my knowledge, not only academically, but based on my experience at SPC. I can also serve as a role model and offer whatever is needed and available, just like my wonderful mentors have done for me.
Favorite quote:
"The person who makes a success of living is the one who sees his goal steadily and aims for it unswervingly. That is dedication." Cecol B. DeMille
Best Advice for the Freshman Class:
Don't stress out because of school work, it seems like a lot, but if you don't wait until the last minute you won't have a problem. Just study hard and play hard!
