Inaugurated as the College’s first lay president on October 20, 2007, Dr. Cornacchia has infused the campus with new energy, improving academic, environmental and spiritual elements of the Saint Peter’s community and curriculum. Under his leadership, Saint Peter’s received the most applicants in the College’s 136-year history for the 2008-2009 academic year, and the College is now housing a record number of students on its Jersey City campus, with the highest full-time student enrollment in eight years.

Results of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) 2001 Cohort Graduation Success Rates (GSR) released on Tuesday, October 14 show that Saint Peter’s College student-athletes have a 91 percent graduation rate, which is 5 percent higher than the NCAA national average graduation rate of 86 percent.

Cecilia Michalik’s long association with and appreciation for Saint Peter’s College and its Jesuit traditions were the catalysts for her conception of an organization designed to engage and benefit its alumnae and female students. In a 2006 interview, Michalik ‘73 said: “We are looking for ways to bring graduates back to Saint Peter’s -- to help with its financial needs, to keep alive the spirit of Jesuit education and to have fun.“ Shortly thereafter, Women Invested in Leadership and Learning, better known as WILL, was born.

Kevin Cummines, adjunct lecturer for fine arts, and performing-arts coordinator for the Office of Student Activities, premiered his composition Symphony no. 1: The Peacock as part of the Hudson Symphony Orchestra’s first concert as Symphony-in-Residence at Saint Peter’s College.

College students often wonder where their major will lead them; and the radio-production class at Saint Peter's College is no different. Therefore, Department of Communications Chair Barna Donovan and Professor Joe Lamachia tried to ease the uncertainties brewing within their students by asking the son of Vice President for Academic Affairs Marylou Yam and ESPN’s newest anchor, Michael Yam, to speak to them on October 9.

Anne Marie Trotta knows firsthand the difficulties of caring for a family and having a full-time career. For this employee at Newark International Airport, going back to school to earn her professional degree simply didn’t seem possible. When she discovered Saint Peter’s College offered evening courses at the airport, she jumped at the opportunity.
