Biology Gems

Will all the biology majors report to Gannon 001 STAT? Classes are in session and learning is about to begin.  Biology GEMS Telma, Christina, and Joanna are here to help. Telma will be assisting Dr. Guiliani, Christina will be assisting Dr. Wilmanski, and Joanna will be assisting Dr. Wydner this year.

Why I'm proud to be a Gem:

I am very proud to be a GEM and am honored to have the opportunity to share all that I have already learned at Saint Peter's with my fellow students. Saint Peter's has offered me so many great resources and I am proud to be a source for others.

Best Advice for the Freshman Class:

Get involved. Organizations are student run, so we all understand changing schedules and busy lives. Joining one or two clubs is a great way to meet students and faculty. It also helps develop your time management skills and is a great way to network. 

Joanna Blanco

Favorite Campus Activity:

Going to see all of the campus organized movie nights, plays, concerts, and comedy shows.

Favorite Professor:

Dr. Wydner and Dr. Held have equally intensified my love for biology. Dr. Wydner taught me the importance of this wide-ranging subject, while Dr. Held showed me what it's like to be a 'real' biologist. Both are the reason why I'm proud to be a biology major.

Why I'm proud to be a Gem:

I am honored to have the chance to direct incoming freshmen towards a path of academic achievement and personal advancement during their adjustment period in the Saint Peter's College community. I'm so excited to help anyone striving for success.

Best Advice for the Freshman Class:

Take a wide variety of classes. You might fall in love with a subject that you never thought to take!

Telma Gomez

Major: Biology / Biochemistry                                                                                                                                                                                                 Class Year: 2011                                                                                                                                                                                                          Hobbies: Reading, playing soccer, watching TV, and socializing with others

Gannon debating society, Mendel biology club, SPCHSMMUN with Dr. Thurston, Socrates café and looking to join more.

Favorite Campus Activity:

Just about anything that happens in the quad: from the student activities, BBQ's, Dr. Brown's projects, and movie nights.

Favorite Professor:

Wow, I don't have one. Dr. Guiliani, Dr. Thurston, Prof. Sanders, Dr. Redden, and Dr. Boshart.

Why I'm proud to be a Gem:

I am proud to have been chosen to participate in tihs program. This makes me very proud and energetic to begin working with others, meet new people, and be a good example for them.

Stay focused, study, and stay on top of your readings and homework. All of your hard work will definitely pay off in the end.
