Mission and Ministry
The Vice President for Mission and Ministry assists the entire Saint Peter’s College community to integrate the Jesuit and Catholic mission and values of the College into their lives. As a member of the President’s Cabinet, he provides leadership to the College community in its efforts to understand and embody the mission of the Society of Jesus by developing various programs, lecture series, and opportunities to experience the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Working with the offices of Campus Ministry and Community Service, and other campus organizations, the Office of Mission and Ministry strives to help the College community reflect on and embody in their decision-making the Ignatian values enunciated in the mission statement of the College. He also assists the College to maintain effective communication with the Rector of the Jesuit Community, in addition to the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, the Office of the Provincial of the New York Province of the Society of Jesus, and Diocesan officials.
Fr. Michael L. Braden, S.J., has served as Vice President for Mission and Ministry since 2008. Prior to coming to Saint Peter’s College, Fr. Braden taught in the Mass Communications programs at both Loyola University in New Orleans and Loyola University of Maryland. He is an experienced director of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius, and because of his experience in Asia, especially China, he has an abiding interest in interreligious dialogue.
