Help save njki databases

The Saint Peter's College Libraries may lose access to 11 important electronic resources in February 2008.  We urgently ask for your help to restore $1 million cut in this year's New Jersey state budget for the New Jersey Knowledge Initiative(NJKI).

Through the NJKI, a state-funded program, we have been able to provide you with access to the 11 science, health and business resources below.

  • Academic Search Premier
  • Business Source Premier
  • CINAHL
  • Pre-CINAHL
  • MEDLINE
  • Nature Online Journals
  • Nursing and Allied Health Collection
  • OVID Selected Core Medical Journals
  • RefUSA
  • Regional Business News
  • Wiley InterScience

These 11 databases account for over 15,000 journals.  Unfortunately, if the $1 million is not restored access to the NJKI databases is only guaranteed through February 2008.  The SPC Libraries and other member libraries may not be able to absorb the additional costs of purchasing these products individually.

Please contact Governor Corzine and your state legislators and tell them it is critically important that we continue to have access to these databases.

Call the Governor’s Office (609) 292-6000 and tell them you are calling in support of reinstating $1 million to the New Jersey Knowledge Initiative. Or send email to the governor advocating for NJKI at the following Web site:
http://www.state.nj.us/governor/govmail.html
Select the topic: "Commerce", the sub-topic "small business", and title the email "Support NJKI"
