Men's and Women's Basketball Coaches Receive Contract Extensions
Thursday, June 17, 2010

JERSEY CITY, NJ (June 17, 2010) – The Saint Peter’s College Department of Athletics has announced that Women’s Basketball Head Coach Stephanie DeWolfe and Men’s Basketball Head Coach John Dunne have each received a contract extension through the year 2013. Terms of the agreement are not made public.

"Stephanie (DeWolfe) and John (Dunne) have both done a tremendous job building competitive basketball programs with integrity and class. They continually demonstrate a commitment to the academic success and overall welfare of the student-athletes at Saint Peter’s College," commented Patrick Elliott, Director of Athletics. "We are looking forward to an exciting future for both programs."

DeWolfe just completed her sixth season as the head coach at Saint Peter’s. During her tenure the Peahens have finished in the top half of the MAAC in three of her six years at the helm. Her best season was the 2007-08 campaign when the team won 19 games and fell to eventual MAAC Champion Marist in the MAAC semifinals. She has coached the only MAAC Defensive Player of the Year in the program’s history, Tania Kennedy. DeWolfe has been a member of the basketball program for 16 of the last 17 seasons, four as a player, six as an assistant coach and six as the head coach.

Dunne just completed his fourth and most successful season as the Peacocks head coach. Dunne has led the Peacocks to a top six finish in the MAAC each of the past two seasons, including a fourth place finish last season. He led Saint Peter’s to a 16-14 season in 2009-10, their most wins since the 2005-06 season and their best record since the 2003-04. The Peacocks also won 11 MAAC games for just the fifth time in the 29-year history of the league. The Peacocks finished the season tied with Florida State as the best defensive team in the country, holding opponents to 37.7% shooting.
