Recap:
JERSEY CITY, NJ- The Saint Peter's College volleyball team (3-4) defeated the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights this evening, 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-18, 27-25). This was the Peahens' third home opening win in the last four years.
After dropping the first set to the Knights, the Peahens had dropped four consecutive sets to Fairleigh Dickinson dating back to Friday afternoon's match. However, Saint Peter's responded by tieing up the second set, winning 25-20. Gaining a little momentum, the Peahens won the third set pretty handedly while taking the fourth set in extra time, 27-25, to win the match in four games.
In the match, three Peahen players totaled double-digit digs. Katie McFadden, Kim Mendoza and Stephanie Phillips were the three Saint Peter's players. Shannon Doheny led the Peahens in assists with 21 while Corey Haynes had 17. Mendoza(14), Phillips(12) and Kassi Wirth(10) each had double-digit kills.
The Peahens will travel to Hamden, CT on Friday, September 10th to take on the Quinnipiac University Broncos.
