Recap:
EASTON, PA- The Saint Peter’s College volleyball team (2-4) lost to the Lafayette College Leopards this afternoon, 3-2 (16-25,25-21,13-25,25-21,13-25). Three Peahens had double-digit digs.
The first set saw the Leopards take an early 1-0 set lead after winning 25-16. However, the Peahens answered back in the second set, winning 25-21. Saint Peter’s sideout percentage was 50% in the second set, a reason for their success.
Saint Peter’s would have to come from behind again after losing the third set 25-13. The Peahens responded by winning the fourth set, 25-21 while having a sideout percentage of 59.
The fifth and final set saw the Peahens get down early, and in the end fall to the Leopards 25-13. Stephanie Phillips (17), Katie McFadden (15), and Kim Mendoza (15) were the three Peahen players who totaled double-digit digs in the match. Mendoza (15) and Phillips (14) also had double-digit kills. Shannon Doheny was responsible for 24 Saint Peter’s assists.
The Peahens will play their home opener against the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights on Wednesday, September 8th at 7pm.
