Recap:

SPARTANBURG, SC- (March 7, 2010)- The Saint Peter's College Peacocks (0-9) turned a triple play in their 16-6 loss to the Wofford Terriers on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Brian Schroeder had three RBI's on one hit while  sophomore Justyn Carter led Saint Peter's with three hits while driving in two runs. Freshman Matt Mancini also had three hits for the Peacocks.

Saint Peter's would get on the board first in the top of the second inning. Tom Bouck lead off the inning with a single and would later score on a double by Carter.

Neither team scored in the third or fourth innings in large part due to a Peacock triple play. In the bottom half of the fourth inning, the Terriers were threatening with runners on the corners. A groundball hit to third baseman Brian Kosterwas thrown to Mullee, who tagged second for the force. Mullee threw to the catcher Lynch at home in which Lynch ran back the runner to third base before flipping to Koster who tagged the man on third. Koster then threw to Mullee to get the batter at second base, completing the rare triple play.

The Terriers got on the board in the bottom of the fifth and lead 2-1. After holding the Peacocks scoreless in the top half of the sixth, Wofford broke the game open by scoring eight runs in the bottom half of the inning. Four of the seven runs came on a Terriers grand slam.

The Peacocks tried to mount a comeback in the top half of the seventh. Saint Peter's scored three runs after a Schroeder double. Carter, Mancini, and Conor Mullee all came across to score on the freshman's two base hit. However, in the bottom half of the seventh, Wofford scored three runs of their own.

The eighth inning saw the Peacocks score two runs off four hits. Michael LaCava's  leadoff double lead to the junior coming around to score three batters later. Carter's single brought in LaCava. A single from John Lynch allowed him to come around to score after an error from second base. Wofford scored the last three runs in the game in the bottom half of this inning.

Sopohmore pitcher Ethan Jackson was pitched brilliant in his four innings of work, limiting the Terriers to one run while striking out one as well.

The Saint Peter's College Peacocks will travel to Emmitsburgh, Maryland on Saturday, March 13th to begin a two day doubleheader against the Mount Saint Mary's Mountaineers.
