The Saint Peter's College Softball team begins their 2009 season this aftrernoon with a doubleheader at Fordham University. The 2009 edition of the Saint Peter’s College Peahens will hit the field with a young, energetic coaching staff and a veteran team. Seven players return from the squad that reached the 2007 MAAC Tournament and have gained valuable experience. They will blend with eight underclassmen to form a team that will fight for the chance to reach the MAAC Final Four once again. Overall, the Peahens are strong offensively and with a healthy pitching staff will fight for a spot in the MAAC Tournament. The Peahens will head to Kissimmee, FL for the 2009 Spring Rebel Games on Saturday, playing 10 games and facing a host of teams from around the country. They will then return north and face Lafayette, before heading to Buffalo for the opening MAAC weekend. Saint Peter’s will also face St. John’s, Drexel and Quinnipiac in non-conference play. The season will conclude against Quinnipiac on May 3rd and the MAAC Championships will take place from May 7th-9th in Poughkeepsie, NY.
