Closing Procedure - FALL 2008

The end of the semester is quickly approaching and it is time to start thinking about Fall check-out. Provided below is the information you will need regarding this process.

It’s time to start thinking about Check-Out for the Winter Break.  Monday, December 10, 2008 is the last day of class which means that Check-Out begins Thursday, December 11th at 9AM. That being said, the Office of Residence Life has been working very hard to make Check-Out as smooth and easy as possible.

Express Check-Out requires you, the resident, prepare your room/apartment appropriately as directed by the Office of Residence Life and then dropping your keys off to a Resident Assistant in the RA Office on your respective campus.  Your RA will be having a floor/building meeting to discuss all of the details with you.  It is imperative that you attend this meeting.  At that time, all materials needed will be distributed and explained.  Please ask all questions that you may have about this process at this meeting.  You can also stop by the Office of Residence Life or email me at mdejager@spc.edu, if you have further questions after the meeting.

RA’s will be available for check out December 11th through 18th from 9AM-8PM in their respective RA Offices located in VMC for West Campus residents and Whelan Hall for East Campus residents.  Check-Out ends December 19th at 12PM SHARP.    Each resident will be issued a key envelope as well as a list of tasks to be completed upon check-out.  You must completely fill out the key envelope and place all keys that were issued to you at check-in inside.  You will then be required to hand in the signed envelope and check-out form.  Failure to comply with these instructions will result in a fine.

Express Check-out is not available to those students who do not plan on returning to residence in the spring, this applies to December graduates, Study Abroad, etc.  Please contact the Office of Residence Life for more information.

In the event that you are approved to live on campus over Winter Break, some of the above information may vary.  All East Campus residents who are staying in Winter Break must be checked into their winter housing assignments and moved to West Campus no later than December 18th by 8PM.  It will be your responsibility to make the appropriate arrangements for moving your belongings.
