  • Ad Critic Is the best part of television the ads? Here are QuickTime clips of over 500 TV ads, an index of television ads and movie trailers, links to CDs for accompanying music, and sections on new ads, top downloads and ad news from the US and UK.
  • Ad*Access from the J. Walter Thompson Company Competitive Advertisements Collection at Duke University presents images and information for over 7,000 advertisements printed in U.S. and Canadian newspapers and magazines between 1911 and 1955. There are five categories of ads: Beauty and Hygiene, Radio, Television, Transportation, and World War II and they provide a wonderful insight into American advertising and culture.

  • Current Population Survey A monthly survey by the Bureau of the Census for the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It contains data on labor force statistics, school enrollment, income, health and other topics.
  • CyberAtlas - Internet Demographics and Marketing data CyberAtlas carries stories from market research firms and others and should be a first stop for material dealing with cybermedia.
  • Digital Atlas of New York City Dr. William A. Bowen of the Department of Geography at California State University, Northridge, has created a demographic atlas of NYC that shows population and race, ancestry, income and poverty, adult educational attainment, household types, and commuters.
  • Emergence of Advertising in America: 1850 - 1920 over 9,000 images from the Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library at Duke University.

  • Pew Internet and American Life Project Research reports and news stories on the effect of the Internet in America
  • Population Index "Population Index is the primary reference tool to the world's population literature. It presents an annotated bibliography of recently published books, journal articles, working papers, and other materials on population topics. This website provides a searchable and browsable database containing 46,035 abstracts of demographic literature published in Population Index in the period 1986-2000."
  • Right Site Easy Analytic Software, Inc. (EASI), publishers of demographic reference and site selection software, provide free access to web tools for analysing census data based on twelve different geographic divisions (ZIP codes, counties, TV Markets, etc.) and methods of analysis (age, qualty of life, top 100 significant varibles, etc). Free registration is required.

  • Statistical Abstract of the United States The first place to look for summaries of the American economy and population.
  • Stores Online an online magazine from the National Retail Federation provides lists of top 100 retailers, top speciality stores, and top global retailers.
  • Superbowl-Ads.Com Reviews and videos of the best Super Bowl advertisements.
  • Times 100 UK Case studies and marketing theory, featuring 100 major companies in the UK.
  • U.S. Patent and Trademark Office: Trademark Information search trademarks and brand names. Search will return both live and dead trademarks and information on the trademark owner, date of first use and a copy of the design, if any was filed.
  • Ulrich's Periodical Directory First published in 1932 by Carolyn Ulrich, a librarian at New York Public Library, Ulrich's is the primary source for information on periodical publications. The online version contains publisher and order information, reviews from Magazines in Libraries and others, contact information for advertising and reprint rights, other format information, online URLs, and, under Document Access, sources of abstracting and indexing for the periodical. This resource is only available to SPC students and faculty.
