  • Assignment Calculator This very helpful site from the University of Minnesota lets you create a timeline of activities that are necessary to write a research paper and provides definitions, tutorials, research guides, and other helpful aides.
  • British Library ImagesOnline Thousands of images from the British Library collections
  • British Museum A searchable database of over 5,000 images from the British Museum. Each image has links to related items and background text.
  • Brooklyn Museum of Art Provides information on the collection, exhibitions and programs.
  • China the Beautiful - Chinese Art and Literature Links to Chinese art and literature, including audio files, maintained by Ming L. Pei.
  • Colección Cisneros.org "The Colección Cisneros is a visual arts program of the Fundación Cisneros. Its mission is to collect, preserve, study, and exhibit the Colección's extensive artworks and related archives, which consist primarily of modern and contemporary art, with an emphasis on Latin America. The Colección also includes Colonial Latin American art, international decorative arts, and a selection of Latin American landscapes from the seventeenth to the early twentieth century."
  • Corbis: Stock Photography and Pictures Search a database of 500,000 photographs (selected from the 22 million in the archive). While there are many historical images, details on photographer and dates are scarce.
  • Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco Features an extensive digital archives collection.
  • FRESCO The Frick Research Catalog Online.
  • Guggenheim Museum Provides information on exhibitions, the collection and programs.
  • INFOMINE: Scholarly Internet Resource Collections " INFOMINE is a virtual library of Internet resources relevant to faculty, students, and research staff at the university level. It contains useful Internet resources such as databases, electronic journals, electronic books, bulletin boards, mailing lists, online library card catalogs, articles, directories of researchers, and many other types of information."
  • Intute:Arts and Humanities "A free online service providing you with access to the best Web resources for education and research, selected and evaluated by a network of subject specialists."
  • Metropolitan Museum of Art Includes information on current exhibits, concerts and lectures. A timeline of art history is also provided. In addition, one can view an online collection of 35,000 works.
  • MoMA | The Museum of Modern Art New York Links to the collection, educational resources and current exhibits.
  • Mother of All Art and Art History Links "Developed by the School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan.   • Universes in Universe - Worlds of Art "Visual arts of Africa, the Americas, Asia, within the context of international art processes and cultural exchange."
  • University of Washington Libraries' Digital Initiatives Program "Photgraphs, documents and audio/video resources for students, teachers, classrooms and the community."
  • Vatican Museums Online Tour the museums and artwork in the Vatican. This site uses Java to display the images and can be slow but the images can also be enlarged and details magnified.

  • Vistas: Visual Culture in Spanish America, 1520-1820 Showing the interaction of European and indigenous culture, Vistas "offers a critical selection of color images, primary sources, and interpretive essays on colonial history and culture." Documents in Spanish, English, Nahuatl, Quiché Maya, and other languages will also be a part of the site.
