Federal and State Grant Programs

There are several types of grants available to Saint Peter's students. The eligibility for these grants is determined by completion of  the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or (FAFSA) as well as the specific requirements of each program. The programs are:

Grant Programs

Federal Pell Grant Program

Grants awarded under this program range from a minimum of $555 to a maximum of $5,550 per academic year+.  Student eligibility is based on the calculated estimated family income (EFC) that was determined from the income and assets figures, number in family, etc., submitted by the family on the FAFSA.

+Because of new legislation, Pell-eligible students enrolled at least half-time in an Associate or Baccalaurate Degree Program may be eligible to receive Pell in the summer.  Please contact the Financial Aid Office with questions regarding eligibility. 

Federal SEOG Program

This is a grant program where eligibility and funding is determined by the institution. Students must be PELL eligible. Awards range up to $1000, based on the calculated estimated family income (EFC) that was determined from the income and assets figures submitted by the family.

urban/distinguished scholars program

This is a New Jersey State Grant program. Awards are based on residency within the state and merit. Awards are $930* each academic year.

EOF (equal opportuity fund program)

This is a New Jersey State Grant program. Awards are $2500* per academic year. students must meet income and academic requirements for the program and be selected by the institution. There are a certain amount of spaces available for admission into this program. Speak with the EOF office to see if eligible.

tAG

This is the New Jersey State grant program. Awards are based on the NJEI which is calculated from the FAFSA. Grants range from $1,700* to $10,468* per academic year. Students must be enrolled on a full-time basis i.e., 12 credits for a semester program and 9 credits for a trimester program. For trimester students, the student must be enrolled full-time for all three trimesters during the academic year.

**NEW PROCESS TO DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY FOR TUITION AID GRANT**

New Jersey Residents

To be considered for the Tuition Aid Grant (TAG), you will be asked by the state fo New Jersey to supply the following data items;

  1. Driver's License number and state (If available)
  2. Amount of Veteran's Benefit (for independent students)
  3. Amount of untaxed Social Security Benefits
  4. Amount of Earned Income Credit (from tax return)

When you complete your FAFSA application in the section that says optional feature you can click on the link that will take you to a state webpage and there you can enter the above requested information.  If you do not answer the questions when you complete your FAFSA application you will be contacted by NJ Higher Education Assitance Authority HESAA by either email or postcard.  You must reply to these contacts as soon as possible.  You will be provided a website to be used to enter this data.  If the answer is zero please place a zero in the field.  A blank will be considered incomplete.  www.hesaa.org
