| Father James N. Loughran |
It is with deep sadness that I report the passing of our President, James N. Loughran, S.J. Father Loughran passed away in his home on December 24.
I ask each of you to please remember Father Loughran and the entire Saint Peter’s College community in your thoughts and prayers during this Christmas and holiday season.
Father Loughran served as the 21st President of Saint Peter’s since 1995. Throughout his life, Father Loughran put into practice the words of Saint Ignatius, the founder of the Jesuits, to serve as a man for others.
He devoted his life to Jesuit education and its emphasis on service and cura personalis. Father Loughran believed deeply in the mission of Saint Peter’s and often spoke fondly of his days as a Philosophy teacher at Saint Peter’s in the 1960s. He welcomed the opportunity to return to Saint Peter’s College as its President more than 10 years ago. He led our institution with grace, dignity and a profound enthusiasm for all associated with Saint Peter’s.
I know that you join me in this time of sorrow. I ask you to please remember Father Loughran in your thoughts and prayers. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Sincerely,
Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D. – Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs
