a world of options

As a student at Saint Peter’s College, you have seven ways to study abroad:

Faculty-Led Short-Term Travel Courses

Students can register for an international study course led by an SPC faculty member. These courses feature assignments during a term, as well as an international travel component over winter or spring break. Look for courses with the INTL designation in Class Search, Spirit Online; then contact the professor directly for detailed information on the course and registration procedure.

International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)

Through ISEP-Exchange, students from the US and 45 other countries are able to visit member universities for a semester or a year.

Some ISEP programs offer instruction in English. Others feature courses in the native language and require participants to have completed advanced/intermediate-level language study prior to the study abroad program. ISEP programs typically require a 2.75 GPA, with preference given to students with a 3.0.

Tuition is paid directly to SPC based on the regular semester charge. SPC institutional aid can be applied to tuition costs, as can government aid. ISEP-Exchange provides housing.

Korea Exchange Program

Saint Peter’s College offers a joint academic exchange with Sogang University, a Jesuit institution in Seoul, Korea. The program is of particular interest to those studying history, political science, management, international studies, and Asian or Asian-American studies. Around 3,000 foreign students study annually at Sogang University. International students may register for courses offered in Korean or English for a maximum of 21 credits per semester.

Tuition is paid directly to SPC based on the regular semester charge. SPC institutional aid can be applied to tuition costs, as can government aid. Sogang provides housing.

John Cabot University, Italy

Through an agreement between Saint Peter's College and John Cabot University, SPC students may apply to visit JCU, located in the heart of Rome, for a semester or a year. John Cabot offers a full four-year liberal arts curriculum making it an appropriate study abroad destination for most students.  All courses are taught in English and follow the traditional US university specifications on a semester system.  JCU typically requires a 2.70 GPA, but students with a lower GPA may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Tuition is paid directly to SPC based on the regular semester charge.  Although SPC institutional aid cannot be used to pay for this program, most forms of government aid may be applied.  John Cabot will secure housing at a reasonable rate for SPC students.

Spain Exchange Program

Business students may apply to participate in a semester-long direct exchange program with IQS, Univeristat Ramón Llull in Barcelona, Spain. Each spring, four to six exchange seats are available. The Barcelona semester runs from February to May. An intensive Spanish language course will be available in January. SPC students take four to five business courses (taught in English) and a mandatory Culture of Spain course during the semester. Students may also register for courses taught in Spanish if they have sufficient language proficiency. Every SPC student is assigned an IQS study abroad peer mentor throughout the semester.

Tuition is paid directly to SPC based on the regular semester charge. SPC institutional aid can be applied to tuition costs, as can government aid. SPC students can choose to live off-campus in student residences or with a host family. To learn more about off-campus housing options, please contact the Center.

Approved Study Abroad Program Providers

Saint Peter's College permits students to participate in American-sponsored programs overseas through approved study abroad program providers. These programs allow students to choose from hundreds of placements in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, and South America. Although your SPC institutional aid cannot be used to pay for these programs, most forms of government aid may be applied. In recent years, SPC students have studied overseas through many programs, including the College Consortium for International Studies (CCIS), the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS), and the Center for Education Abroad (CEA).
