Among the 119 U.S. colleges and universities selected by The Carnegie Foundation for the 2008 Community Engagement Classification, Saint Peter’s was the only four-year higher-education institution in New Jersey to receive the designation in both Curricular Engagement and Outreach and Partnerships. (more)

For more than 20 years, Father Joseph A. Kelly, S.J., 77, served as a campus minister at Saint Peter’s College counseling students and providing retreats, seminars, masses and workshops to enhance their personal growth. Father Kelly had returned to Jersey City to assist with fundraising activities at the College. (more)

Two members of the Saint Peter’s College Psychology Department, Dr. Frederick Bonato, chair, and Dr. Andrea Bubka, professor, appeared on Weird Connections, a television show on the Science Channel that plots relationships between unique experiments and their resulting scientific advances.

“The Sick Machine,” covered the work that Drs. Bonato and Bubka conducted using an optokinetic drum -- a simulator that explores how vision affects self-motion perception and motion sickness. (more)

Among the international student population at Saint Peter’s College, 22 are undergraduate students who traveled 7,530 miles from their native country of Nepal to attend school in Jersey City. Saint Peter’s has provided aid to its Nepalese students, as well as many of its other international students; it’s an investment that ensures a better quality of life for these young adults. (more)

On April 2, Saint Peter's College will host the 2009 Hearts and Minds Scholarship Dinner (formerly the Distinguished Alumni Awards Dinner) at the Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange, N.J.

The College will honor Francis G. Ziegler ’63 for Loyalty to Alma Mater, and the Hon. Frank J. Guarini H ’94 for Service to Community. Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) will be the first-ever recipient of the Corporate Citizen Award. (more)
