Why Give?
In the Prayer for Generosity, Saint Ignatius wrote, “Lord, teach me to be generous. Teach me to serve you as you deserve; to give and not count the cost.” When you make a gift to one of the Campaign priorities, you are serving not only the greater good, but also deserving students at the College.
Alumni participation, or, the number of alumni who give to their alma mater, also helps Saint Peter’s:
- Receive support from corporations and foundations. Many of these organizations determine how much funding they give to colleges and universities based on alumni participation, more so than total dollars raised.
- Save money. Bond rating agencies examine alumni participation to establish the interest rate that the College will pay when it borrows money.
- Rank in publications such as US News and World Report. These publications consider alumni participation when placing the College on lists that help prospective students decide their future in higher education.
